Zombi

Dawn of the Dead (1978), directed by George A. Romero, is a landmark zombie horror film that continues the saga begun in Night of the Living Dead. As a mysterious plague causes the dead to rise and feast on the living, society collapses into chaos. A small group of survivors—two SWAT officers, a TV reporter, and her helicopter pilot boyfriend—seek refuge in an abandoned shopping mall. There, they create a makeshift sanctuary, enjoying the spoils of consumerism while fending off the ever-growing horde of undead outside. However, their fragile safe haven is eventually threatened not only by zombies, but by roving bands of violent looters, forcing the group to confront the illusion of safety and the cost of survival. Both a thrilling horror film and a biting social commentary on consumer culture, Dawn of the Dead is considered one of Romero’s most influential works.
